Prenatal therapy for severe diseases and malformations is increasingly recognized as an important means of early prevention—and rightly so, because during the 40 weeks leading up to the birth of a child, abnormal developments or severe circulatory disorders can often be halted or even cured.
Thanks to our wide range of prenatal therapy options, hundreds of seriously ill unborn children have already been successfully treated and saved.
Many of the treatment methods were developed or co-developed by me, introduced in Germany, and are not yet available anywhere else.
This work is based on more than 25 years of personal intensive research and practice. It has been supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for over 15 years.
In close cooperation with colleagues in prenatal medicine, obstetrics, and other disciplines at the University Medical Center Mannheim (UMM), we have made it our mission to provide parents with comprehensive information and ensure that their sick unborn children receive the best possible treatment for their start in life.
We are also happy to advise you and, if you wish, put you in touch with parents of other former young patients: Federal Association for the Support of Families with Prenatally Ill Children (BFVEK)
Yours sincerely, Thomas Kohl

Fetal surgery in the Hector Operating Room
We have been performing procedures at the DZFT in our high-tech operating room for two years now. The donation from the Hector Foundation enables us to stand at the perfect angle to the surgical field at all times and, with the help of the many monitors, to work even more precisely to the millimeter—or to further develop certain aspects of surgery. In all cases, we can view and “tackle” the problem from a wide variety of perspectives.
The A2 surgical assistance system from Südmed has been and continues to be extremely helpful in this regard. Designed according to our specifications, it significantly reduces the physical strain on the surgeon and facilitates the necessary precision work.
We will soon be presenting the specific conditions that benefit most from this system and the advantages of using this high-precision equipment in detail.
